About Us

Voice of Somali Women for Peace, Reconciliation, and Political Rights (VOSWP) is an independent, non-profit women’s organization dedicated to advocating for the cessation of war and the establishment of conditions conducive to peace. Formed on February 13, 1998, by a coalition of Somali women and their allies both in Somalia and across various Diaspora communities, including Canada, VOSWP’s rallying cry is “Enough is enough!” We uphold the belief that “peace is indivisible and universal.”

VOSWP is dedicated to promoting the voice of Somali women in socio-economic and political contexts, contributing to sustainable peace development through effective mobilization across different communication channels and educative approaches.

What We Do

Geographical Focus

VOSWP operates primarily in the Banadir, Hirshabelle, and Southwest regions of Somalia. We are committed to addressing the unique challenges and needs of these areas to foster sustainable and positive change.

Partnership with CARITAS

This project successfully distributed Non-Food Item (NFI) kits to 220 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Balcad district of the Middle Shabelle Region. The initiative alleviated the immediate needs of displaced communities by providing essential supplies that improved their living conditions and supported their basic shelter and hygiene needs. The project effectively addressed the urgent humanitarian requirements of IDPs affected by conflicts and natural disasters in the region.
